In the summer of 2021, a life was tragically cut short in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Dwayne Tyrone Patterson, a 29-year-old male, died on Saturday, July 10, 2021, after a shooting incident. The event unfolded on 14th Avenue South, where officers in the vicinity heard gunshots and were able to respond almost immediately. Patterson was transported to Grand Strand Medical Center, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities quickly detained a suspect at the scene.
Thirty-year-old Shadow Antonio Graham of Darlington, S.C., was taken into custody just moments after the shooting. Graham was subsequently charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
The investigation revealed that the shooting occurred after a fight between Graham and Patterson. In May 2023, nearly two years after the incident, Shadow Antonio Graham pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in connection with Dwayne Patterson's death. A judge sentenced Graham to 20 years in prison. He will be eligible for supervised release after serving 17 years of his sentence.
