On a summer evening in Johns Island, South Carolina, the lives of two young men were tragically cut short. Twenty-four-year-old Taiwan Douglas Green and his friend, Ravin Louis Smalls Jr., also 24, were found deceased on July 20, 2021. The first breakthrough came on September 3, 2021, with the arrest of William Nathaniel Green Jr. in connection with the shootings. Subsequently, the Charleston Police Department, with the assistance of the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, apprehended two more suspects, 21-year-old Joshua Cromwell and 20-year-old Keyshawn McFarlane. Joshua Cromwell was charged with two counts of murder and one count of robbery. Keyshawn McFarlane faced charges of two counts of murder, one count of robbery, and one count of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Following their arrests, all three suspects were held at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
