In the early morning hours of August 22, 2021, a dispute outside a downtown Gaffney, South Carolina nightclub tragically cut short the life of 28-year-old Roberto Marquis Porter Jr. The altercation occurred just before 1 a.m. outside Club Apex on Birnie Street. Responding to the incident, police discovered Porter in a parking lot across from the club with a fatal gunshot wound. He was rushed by EMS to Cherokee Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
