In the early morning hours of Friday, February 11, 2022, a tragic series of events unfolded that culminated in the death of 25-year-old Keith Lamar Feaster Sr. of Fort Mill, South Carolina. Feaster, a male, was discovered inside a truck on Interstate 77, near exit 85 in Fort Mill, suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene around 2 a.m.
and transported him to a nearby hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into Feaster's death quickly pointed to a violent altercation that had its roots in an argument at a nightclub in North Carolina. It is believed that following this dispute, the violence escalated, leading to the shooting on the interstate. Feaster was a passenger in the truck when he was shot. The driver of the vehicle, who was unharmed, managed to flag down assistance after the incident. The location of the shooting was determined to be on I-77 southbound near mile marker 88 and the Gold Hill Road exit.
Authorities with the York County Sheriff's Office promptly launched an investigation and were able to identify a suspect in the fatal shooting. Robert Dequan Johnson, 26, of Rock Hill, was identified as the individual allegedly responsible for Feaster's death. Later that same day, law enforcement located Johnson, and after a car chase that concluded on Spruce Street in Rock Hill, he was taken into custody.
Following his arrest, Robert Dequan Johnson was charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of Keith Feaster. He was subsequently booked into the York County jail, where he was held without bond as the investigation into the incident continued.
