In the spring of 2022, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace of a Columbia, South Carolina neighborhood, leaving two men dead and another wounded. One of the victims was Richard M. Boineau, a 50-year-old man. The shooting occurred on April 12th at an apartment complex on Hunt Club Road. When deputies from the Richland County Sheriff's Department arrived at the scene, they found Boineau and another man, 42-year-old Lance M. Scott, deceased.
A third victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries.
The investigation into the double homicide quickly pointed to a single suspect: 19-year-old Trev'von Pinckney. Authorities identified Pinckney as the alleged shooter and warned the public that he should be considered armed and extremely dangerous. A manhunt was launched, with law enforcement agencies working to locate and apprehend the teenage suspect. Believing Pinckney was receiving help from friends and family to evade capture, the sheriff's department urged anyone with information to come forward.
After several months on the run, the search for Trev'von Pinckney came to an end in September 2022. He was located and taken into custody in Valdosta, Georgia, bringing a significant development to the case. Following his arrest, the legal process to hold him accountable for the deaths of Richard Boineau and Lance Scott could begin.
