In the quiet community of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Ansel Leigh Bouchillon, a 66-year-old Caucasian male, and his wife were known for their warmth and generosity. Their lives, however, came to a tragic and violent end in their own home. On June 16, 2022, Mr. Bouchillon and his 65-year-old wife, Alice Lollis Bouchillon, were discovered deceased, having both suffered from multiple gunshot wounds.
The Greenville County Coroner's Office swiftly classified their deaths as homicides, sending a shockwave through the neighborhood where they were cherished as kind and helpful neighbors, always ready with a smile.
The investigation into the double homicide soon pointed to a contractor who had recently been employed by the couple. Authorities identified 57-year-old Jerry Willard Yancy as the primary suspect. It was revealed that a dispute had arisen over the quality of Yancy's work at the Bouchillon's residence. The couple contended that the job was not completed to their satisfaction and that Yancy still owed them further repairs. This disagreement is believed to have been the catalyst for the tragic events that unfolded.
The evening prior to the discovery of the Bouchillons, on June 15, 2022, Yancy entered their home and fatally shot both Ansel and Alice. In a grim turn of events, before committing the murders, Yancy himself had contacted the Greenville County Sheriff's Office, with reports suggesting that alcohol may have been a contributing factor. When law enforcement officers attempted to take him into custody, they were met with a final, desperate act. As deputies entered the room where he was located, Jerry Willard Yancy took his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, closing the investigation into the tragic deaths of the Bouchillons.
