In the late summer of 2022, the life of 22-year-old Malik Daveon Zimmerman of Timmonsville, South Carolina, was tragically cut short. On August 16, 2022, law enforcement officials discovered the young man deceased inside a vehicle on Riverbend Drive, situated just north of the town. An investigation swiftly determined that his death was a homicide, the result of a single gunshot wound.
His untimely passing left his family, including his loving parents Loranzo and Latanya Zimmerman, and numerous siblings, enveloped in grief.
Malik, a 2018 graduate of South Florence High School where he had been a standout football player, was remembered for his love of travel, fashion, and spending time with his family. He had been employed at Sam's Club for three years and was channeling his passion for clothing into developing his own brand, 'Money Junkie.' The unexpected and violent end to a life so full of promise sent ripples of sorrow through the community, with many friends and relatives sharing their cherished memories of a young man known for his caring and friendly nature.
In the days following the discovery of Malik's body, the Florence County Sheriff's Office launched an intensive investigation that quickly led to developments. Authorities first arrested Nase Stevenson, charging him with murder in connection with the fatal shooting. Shortly thereafter, a second suspect, Damonte Williams, was also taken into custody and faced the same serious charge of murder. Both men were subsequently jailed as the legal process against them began, marking the initial steps toward seeking justice for the death of Malik Daveon Zimmerman.
