Assistant City Marshal William Hennecke of the Boonville Police Department in Missouri was tragically shot and killed on March 27, 1900. The incident occurred while he was attempting to arrest a suspect involved in a robbery at a cigar store. Marshal Hennecke, along with Officer Jones, went to the suspect's home to apprehend him. The suspect, who had been recognized during the burglary, was also suspected of several other burglaries in the area.
