Jail Supervisor Leon Earl Egley, aged 33, tragically lost his life on June 22, 2000, during a violent attempted jailbreak at the Randolph County Jail in Huntsville, Missouri. The incident occurred around 12:45 am when a man and a woman rang the night buzzer at the jail. Upon being let in, the suspects opened fire on Jail Supervisor Egley and Deputy Jason Acton, who were both unarmed as per department regulations.
