A 50 year old man is shot during an attempted robbery in Des Moines, IA Ernest Harold Lilly Sr., a 50-year-old World War II Navy veteran, was shot on September 11, 1973, in an attempted robbery outside “Frank’s Place,” a tavern in Des Moines, Iowa.
