On February 9, 2015, the quiet of the night was shattered in Saint Charles, Missouri, when multiple emergency calls reported gunfire in the 200 block of Ameristar Boulevard. Police officers rushed to the scene around 12:28 a.m., where they discovered 38-year-old male Charles Stanley Dishman suffering from critical injuries. Despite immediate transport to a local hospital for emergency treatment, he succumbed to his gunshot wounds, leading authorities to launch a homicide investigation involving
the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis.
Investigators determined that the fatal shooting occurred during a violent robbery executed by a group of individuals who had driven a rental vehicle to the apartment complex. Law enforcement acted swiftly, identifying and apprehending five suspects in connection with the crime. The investigation revealed that items stolen during the robbery, along with the weapon used to kill the victim, were found in the possession of the suspects, solidifying the case against them.
The legal proceedings resulted in significant consequences for the individuals involved. Wardell Davison Jr. pleaded guilty to charges including second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and armed criminal action, receiving a life sentence in November 2015. Another co-defendant, Melech Yachin Porter, also entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and armed criminal action, resulting in a twenty-year prison sentence handed down in December 2015.
Two other associates, Dennis Lamont Baker and Lamont D. Ware, were charged with first-degree robbery; both men admitted their guilt and were scheduled for sentencing in early 2016. A fifth suspect, Travon Johnson, faced charges of second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and armed criminal action, with his case proceeding to a jury trial set for February 2016. The collaborative effort by local police and the Major Case Squad ensured that those responsible for the violent act faced the judicial system.
