In the summer of 2015, the quiet streets of Bellefontaine Neighbors in St. Louis, Missouri, were disrupted by violence that claimed the life of 20-year-old Kheyjuan Miqehl Davis. On the evening of July 16, 2015, around 9:30 p.m., residents living near the 1100 block of Addison Drive reported hearing the sound of gunshots echoing through the neighborhood.
When officers from the Bellefontaine Neighbors Police Department arrived at the scene to investigate the disturbance, they discovered Davis inside his residence, suffering from critical gunshot wounds. First responders transported the young man to a nearby hospital in hopes of saving his life, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
The investigation into the homicide was turned over to the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis, who worked alongside local detectives to piece together the events of that night. Through their inquiries, authorities identified a suspect who was also 20 years old at the time. A report released by the Major Case Squad revealed that Willie J. Roberts was taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting. Investigators determined that the incident involved not only the loss of life but also elements of theft and intrusion into the victim's home.
Following the investigation, prosecutors filed a litany of serious charges against Roberts. He faced a count of murder in the first degree for the death of Kheyjuan Davis, as well as four counts of robbery in the first degree and one count of burglary in the first degree. Additionally, authorities charged him with armed criminal action and discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle, reflecting the chaotic and violent nature of the encounter. Roberts was held on a cash-only bond of one million dollars as the legal process against him commenced.
