The incident occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. following what authorities described as a heated altercation related to drugs.
During the confrontation, a struggle over a firearm ensued, resulting in the fatal shot that struck Wade.
A second individual present at the scene reportedly intervened, managing to wound the suspect with a knife. However, the assailant fled the location and initially remained at large, prompting an investigation by law enforcement.
Months later, in February of 2016, the investigation led to a significant development with the arrest of a suspect. Antonio D. Stovall, who was 37 years old at the time, was taken into custody and subsequently charged in connection with Tony Wade's death. The charges brought against him were severe: first-degree murder and armed criminal action, indicating a belief by prosecutors that the killing was premeditated.
Following the charges, the case against Antonio D. Stovall proceeded through the legal system. Ultimately, he was convicted of second-degree murder and armed criminal action. For these crimes, Stovall was sentenced to serve 20 years in prison for the murder charge, with an additional three years for the armed criminal action charge, with the sentences to be served concurrently.
