In the early hours of a summer morning in St. Louis, Missouri, a dispute between two men escalated into a fatal exchange of gunfire, leaving both dead. Lonnie Bailey, a 51-year-old male, was found with gunshot wounds near the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and Cora Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident, which unfolded around 1 a.m. on June 1, 2019, also resulted in the death of 41-year-old Lazarus Baber.
Responding to a call for a shooting, police discovered both Bailey and Baber lying on the ground. Baber was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
According to the initial police investigation, it is believed that Bailey and Baber had been engaged in an argument as they were leaving a local business. The verbal altercation intensified, tragically culminating in both men shooting at each other. At this time, authorities have not publicly identified any other suspects or announced any arrests in connection with the double homicide, as the investigation points to the two deceased individuals as the primary parties involved in the fatal confrontation.
