A teen is found dead on a county road
On a cold January day in 1992, the life of 18-year-old Holly Ann Anderson was tragically cut short. A Caucasian female, Holly was found deceased on January 9, 1992, on a rural county road in Vermillion County, Indiana. An autopsy would later reveal that she had been stabbed multiple times in the chest and abdomen.
Holly was a resident of the similarly named Vermilion County in Illinois, just across the state line. She was last seen on the day her body was discovered when she visited her boyfriend at the liquor store where he worked in Danville. She had plans to return at midnight to pick him up from his shift, but she never arrived.
Days after the discovery of Holly's body, her car was found abandoned behind a church. Nearly two months later, her wallet was also recovered. The investigation into her murder spanned both Indiana and Illinois, with law enforcement from both states dedicating significant time to the case. Despite their efforts, no arrests have ever been made in connection with her death.
Over the years, investigators have considered various leads and suspects. At one point, there was speculation about a potential link to the murder of 15-year-old Jessica Roach, who was found in a nearby area nearly two years later. This led to fears of a possible serial killer operating in the region. One name that has been mentioned in connection with these cases is Larry Dewayne Hall. However, his involvement in Holly's murder is purely speculative, and his typical method of killing was strangulation, not stabbing, which casts doubt on his connection to her death. As of 2007, Indiana State Police indicated that they had suspects in Holly's case but did not release their names publicly. Holly Ann Anderson's murder remains an unsolved cold case.
