On a tragic Friday night in St. Louis, 18-year-old Antavion T. Wilson, a male, was fatally shot. The incident, which unfolded on February 2, 2018, also left his 36-year-old mother, Detra Green, hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds. The shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the 5000 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Drive, near Sherman Park. Both Wilson and his mother were rushed to a hospital, where Antavion was pronounced dead.
The events leading to the deadly confrontation began
outside The Other Place Lounge. Authorities stated that the incident escalated to an exchange of gunfire between Wilson and the bar's owner, Larry Jackson, who was 37 at the time. Surveillance footage reportedly captured Jackson hitting Green and then kicking or stomping on her after she fell.
Five days after the shooting, Larry Jackson surrendered to the police. He claimed that he acted in self-defense. Following an investigation, Jackson was charged with second-degree murder and assault. He was subsequently jailed with a bond set at $250,000.
