On August 14, 2018, Dairian Antonio Holmes, a 27-year-old African American male, lost his life following a violent incident in St. Louis, Missouri. The events unfolded in the North City area, where Holmes was subjected to gunfire. Initial reports from the scene indicated that a man had been shot in the leg, an injury that ultimately proved fatal. He was transported for medical treatment but succumbed to his wounds later that same day.
Law enforcement officers responded to the shooting,
which occurred on a Tuesday. Following an investigation into the circumstances of his death, police identified and apprehended a suspect in connection with the homicide. Reports indicated that a man from Florissant, Missouri, was taken into custody and subsequently charged for his role in the North City shooting.
Dairian Holmes was remembered by his community and loved ones as a dedicated father and a 'teddy bear' with a sweet and loving personality. He left behind a young son, Ahmir, as well as his parents, Keith Ivory and Ruthie Holmes. He was also survived by three brothers and a sister. A visitation and funeral service were held in his honor at St. Luke's M.B. Church on Finney Avenue in St. Louis, followed by interment.
