In the city of St. Louis, on September 23, 2018, the life of 21-year-old Louis Bishop was tragically cut short. The young Black male was discovered in a vacant lot situated in the 3000 block of Marcus Avenue, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The grim discovery marked another instance of gun violence in the city.
The narrative of that day took an even more tragic turn when, approximately an hour later, Bishop's 25-year-old girlfriend, Tamella Buchanan, was also found deceased.
Her body was located inside a vehicle with shattered windows in the 2800 block of Taylor Avenue, less than half a mile from where Bishop was found. She too had suffered from multiple gunshot wounds. The close proximity of the locations and the relationship between the two victims led the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department to investigate the homicides in connection with one another.
In the wake of the killings, family members were left searching for answers, pleading with the public for any information that might lead to an arrest. Bishop's uncle, Rodney, stated that all he knew was that someone had chased his nephew down and killed both him and his girlfriend, the reasons for which remained unknown.
Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the case has grown cold over the years. As of early 2025, there have been no public reports of any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the murders of Louis Bishop and Tamella Buchanan. Authorities have not released any information regarding potential motives, and the case remains an unsolved homicide, leaving a grieving family still waiting for justice.
