In the late summer of 2019, the life of 36-year-old Katrina Suiter, a female from Poplar Bluff, Missouri, was tragically cut short. On the evening of Wednesday, August 7th, authorities were called to a residence on County Road 476 in Butler County, where they discovered Suiter had been fatally shot. An autopsy would later confirm the cause of death.
The initial investigation quickly centered on a person of interest, Michael Choate, who was identified as Suiter's 46-year-old boyfriend.
In his account to law enforcement, Choate claimed that Suiter had been waving a firearm when it accidentally discharged, causing her fatal injury. He was taken into custody in connection with the shooting.
However, the findings of the Butler County Coroner began to cast doubt on Choate's version of events. The results of the autopsy were reported to contradict his statement, suggesting that the shooting may not have been accidental. Despite this discrepancy, Choate was subsequently released from the Butler County Justice Center.
While he was released from custody, law enforcement officials maintained that Michael Choate remained a suspect in the ongoing investigation into Katrina Suiter's death. The case has since grown cold, with no public announcements of further developments, additional suspects, or any charges being filed in connection with her death.
