In the spring of 2020, a life was tragically cut short on the streets of St. Louis. Jeremiah Williams, a 28-year-old Black / African American man, was shot on April 13, 2020. The incident took place in the 5400 block of Enright Avenue, near the intersection of Delmar Boulevard and Union Boulevard. After being found with gunshot wounds, Williams was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
The events that unfolded on that Monday led to a swift police response. A suspect was seen fleeing the area immediately following the shooting. Law enforcement officers were able to pursue and apprehend the individual, taking him into custody. During the arrest, a firearm was also recovered from the scene. The man taken into custody was later identified as 27-year-old Tyric Costello.
Following the investigation into the death of Jeremiah Williams, the St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office brought formal charges against the suspect. Tyric Costello was charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of armed criminal action for his alleged involvement in the fatal shooting. In light of the serious nature of the charges, Costello was ordered to be held without the possibility of bond.
