On the evening of July 7, 2020, 41-year-old Anndell Lawrence was operating a GMC minivan in St. Louis, Missouri. He was traveling westbound on Interstate 44 near the Cass Avenue overpass around 11:00 p.m. when the violent encounter occurred. As Lawrence drove along the highway, shots were suddenly fired from another vehicle that was also traveling westbound. The gunfire struck the minivan, hitting both Lawrence and a passenger who was riding with him at the time.
