In the Baden neighborhood of St. Louis, a burst of gunfire shattered the late afternoon calm on a Wednesday. When the sounds of the shootout subsided, 46-year-old Mark Burton, a male, lay dead, having been fatally shot in the head around 5 p.m. near North Broadway and Halls Ferry Road. The incident, which unfolded on August 11, 2021, prompted a swift police investigation that would soon lead to arrests in connection with the killing.
