On December 31, 2021, a trivial argument escalated into a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 32-year-old Sean Waldon in Overland, a suburb of Saint Louis, Missouri. The dispute, which began over the seemingly innocent topic of whose car was faster, took a deadly turn, leaving a family shattered and a community in shock. Waldon was at a home in the 9400 block of Miriam Avenue when the argument with Deonte M.
Robinson, then 23, became heated and turned physical.
As the confrontation intensified, Waldon attempted to de-escalate the situation by leaving with his family. He was in the process of getting into a car when Robinson allegedly opened fire, fatally wounding him. The Overland Police Department investigated the shooting, which occurred at approximately 5 p.m. Witnesses at the scene, including Robinson's own mother, recounted the argument over the vehicles that preceded the deadly gunfire.
In the wake of the shooting, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office charged Deonte M. Robinson with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. A judge set his bail at $1 million in cash. In October 2023, the case against Robinson came to a conclusion. Following a trial, he was found guilty of second-degree murder and armed criminal action. His sentencing was scheduled for December 15, 2023.
