Update: I called the Ventura County Cold Case Unit once again today, 9/17/26. A kind lady Officer answered! I was so thankful, as no one had been able to answer before. Basically, they have many, many specimens of UHRs - Unidentified Human Remains - that have been sent to labs. They are expecting to receive traceable DNA to make identifications. Yes, I was there and witnessed the entire incident from when the ball was kicked into the ocean until an hour after a wave came over his head and his body washed over the top of the wave. Has anyone else been following Susan Alery's case? It's been over six years now, and it still weighs heavily on my mind. Reading about how 2017 was so plagued with violence in Houston makes me wonder how detectives prioritize these cases.
