I came across this detail in the case that I feel needs more attention. The firearm used in Officer Moore's shooting was actually sold to Thomas Hardy by someone who had just been released from serving time for a state drug charge. It’s frustrating to think of how these dangerous cycles continue. This person was sentenced for selling a firearm knowing he shouldn't, which ended up in such a tragic incident. It's a painful reminder of how critical it is to address illegal gun sales and the pathways through which these weapons end up in the wrong hands. My heart goes out to Officer Moore’s family; it must be incredibly difficult to see how systemic issues contributed to their loss. Seeing the justice system working to prevent further tragedies is some solace, but it's clear we have a long way to go. Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts on how these sales can be better regulated.
