I came across a detail in the Harry Briggs case that hasn’t been discussed much, and it really struck me. According to reports, after Desi Thomas committed the robbery and shot Briggs, the surveillance footage captured him literally skipping away from the crime scene. I can’t shake how chilling that image must be for Harry’s family and friends, to know that his killer showed such casual indifference immediately after the act. It’s just so hard to comprehend how anyone could take a life and then act as if it was nothing. Justice being served with Thomas's lengthy sentence may offer some comfort, but it’s heart-wrenching to think of the void left by Harry’s absence. My heart goes out to his loved ones, especially knowing how beloved he was in his community. I hope that sharing memories and good times with Harry helps his family navigate through their grief.
