I came across Devon Raye Sullivan's story recently, and there's something about it that's been weighing on my mind. The young boy who accidentally discharged the firearm—can't help but think about the impact this tragedy must have on him, too. At just 13, being caught in such a devastating incident could leave lasting emotional scars. It's understandable why the authorities classified it as a tragic accident, with no criminal charges pursued, but what kind of support is available for kids who find themselves in these situations? I truly hope that both families involved are receiving the healing and help they need. It’s vital for the community to continue to surround them with compassion and understanding. I can't imagine the pain of losing a child just before Christmas or being at the epicenter of such a heartbreaking accident. Thoughts and prayers are with Devon's loved ones and with the young friend who has to carry this burden. A tough journey of healing lies ahead, and they shouldn’t have to face it alone.
