I’ve been thinking a lot about the role of self-defense in cases like Alexia’s. It just breaks my heart to consider how a situation can escalate so quickly, leading to irreversible tragedy. The fact that all three guns were discharged during that awful exchange adds so many layers to the case. Trying to make sense of it all must be incredibly hard for Alexia’s loved ones. I can't imagine what her family is going through, having to relive these events in court. There must be so many difficult questions about what happened in those moments. I'm praying that they find peace and strength during this incredibly tough time. Gun violence impacts so many lives, and I hope that through understanding the complex details of these incidents, we can work towards preventing future tragedies. Anyone else feel like there’s a lot more we need to learn about the dynamics in chaotic, high-stress settings like this one?
