I've been following the case of Officer Eugene Hollins Sr., and every detail just pulls at my heart. There's something particularly jarring about the fact that he was once a pro athlete—it's a reminder that he wasn't just an officer, but a person with a rich life and diverse experiences. To think he thrilled crowds with his basketball skills before dedicating himself to public service is both inspiring and tragic. It's a stark reminder of how much potential was senselessly lost. My thoughts are with his family, especially his young son, who must have been so proud of his father’s achievements both on the court and in his community. The way life was just starting to unfold for them, only to be shattered by an act of senseless violence, is devastating. Let’s never forget the person behind the badge.
