I’ve been thinking about Angela Dales' role in the tragic events at the Appalachian School of Law. From what I’ve read, she was a dedicated student with a bright future ahead. It's just unbearably sad to think about how her life was cut short in such a senseless act of violence. What really caught my attention was how Angela and others were caught in a situation where campus security measures were clearly insufficient. There seems to be a lot of focus in the aftermath on how armed students helped subdue the shooter, but shouldn't the conversation also include why there wasn't more done *before* it reached that point? It’s essential that educational institutions create a secure environment where students can focus on learning without fear. I wonder if the school has since changed its policies or security measures to prevent anything like this from happening again. Angela's family, and the families of the other victims, deserved more answers and concrete changes after such a devastating loss. Thoughts and insights into any policy changes since then would be appreciated. Stay safe, everyone.
