I recently stumbled across the tragic story of Osbin Noel Hernandez-Gonzales, and it's really stayed with me. I can't begin to imagine what his family must be going through, even more than a decade later. What breaks my heart is that he was just 18, with his whole life ahead of him, cut short by senseless violence. It's hard not to feel anger towards the gang culture that perpetuated this tragedy. I've been reading about MS-13's influence in communities and how they target young people, often manipulating them into these violent acts. It's terrifying to think about how they prey on vulnerabilities, drawing teenagers into a cycle of violence and crime. It seems like there needs to be more intervention at a community level to protect and educate the youth before they fall into these traps. We've really got to do better, both in prevention and in finding ways to support those affected by these crimes. Sending thoughts to Osbin's family and hoping for a future where such needless tragedies are a thing of the past.
