I was deeply touched reading about the tragic loss of James Eddie Delando Hill, especially knowing how much his family and community adored him. I came across a story shared by a friend who said James was the kind of person who’d light up the room with his presence. Apparently, he had this tradition of organizing basketball games at the local park to help keep the community's youth engaged in positive activities. He believed in using sports to bridge gaps and foster unity among the neighborhood kids. It’s devastating to think that someone who worked so hard to keep the peace was taken from this world by such senseless violence. His children must feel the weight of his absence each day, and my heart goes out to them and everyone who knew him. It makes me wonder, how can a community heal and prevent the loss of more individuals who strive to make a difference? Any ideas or community success stories would be appreciated.
