Julian "Sonny" Sharpe was such a vital part of the Hopewell community—his love for animals, good food, and fashion brought people together in the most genuine ways. It truly breaks my heart to think about how his vibrant life was cut short due to senseless violence. I wasn't personally acquainted with him, but you could tell just from the stories and photos shared that he was someone special, full of life and promise. Reading about how his story unfolded, what strikes me the most is the deep-rooted connection Julian had with his community and Greater Faith A.M.E. Zion Church during his childhood. These ties speak volumes about the positive influence he must have had on those around him. I hope his loved ones and the communities affected can find a way to keep his memory alive and continue spreading the joy Julian was known for. We need to keep advocating for justice and peace, in honor of him and Elisa Scott.
