I've been thinking a lot about Juan Carlos Anaya Hernandez and his stepfather, and something that really stands out to me is the bravery they must have had in those terrifying moments. It breaks my heart to imagine what they went through. Being in the wrong place at the wrong time is such a helpless feeling, and yet they faced it head-on. I can't help but wonder about the kind of person Juan was—24 is so young, with so much life ahead. His family must have been so proud of him. They didn’t deserve to have their lives torn apart by senseless violence. My thoughts are with their loved ones. It's important for communities to rally around families like theirs after such devastating losses.
