I was recently reading up on the tragic events of April 9, 2002, in Dover, NJ, and it really struck me how small towns can sometimes be shaken by such overwhelming violence. The loss of Tina Williams and all the others is just profoundly sad. It’s hard enough when tragedy strikes a random place, but when it’s someone from your own neighborhood, it just hits differently.
What really got me thinking was the brave escape of the Williams’ son who managed to jump out of the window. I can't even begin to imagine the trauma he's endured or how he's managed to cope over the years. The fact that he found the strength to escape in such a terrifying moment is both miraculous and haunting. This aspect of the story gets a little less attention compared to the perpetrator's actions, but it's important to acknowledge his survival and hope he's found some peace since that terrible day. My thoughts remain with him and all affected by this senseless tragedy.
