On a tragic day in Dover, New Jersey, Tina Williams, a 46-year-old woman, lost her life in a sudden and violent act that shook her community. The events unfolded on April 9, 2002, when a neighbor, a veteran police officer named Edward L. Lutes Jr., embarked on a shooting spree.
The quiet neighborhood was shattered by gunfire as Lutes, 42, targeted two neighboring homes. He first entered the home of the Galliano family, where he fatally shot 51-year-old Dominick, his 49-year-old wife Gail, and their 25-year-old son, Christopher. All three victims suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Lutes then proceeded to the home of Gary and Tina Williams. There, he shot and killed both 48-year-old Gary and his wife, Tina.
The couple's 23-year-old son managed to escape the horrific scene by jumping out of a back window and was able to alert the police.
After the devastating attack on his neighbors, Lutes drove to another location where he shot and wounded his boss, the Seaside Heights Police Chief. Following this final act of violence, Edward L. Lutes Jr. took his own life. As Lutes was the sole perpetrator of the quintuple murder-suicide, no arrests were made in connection with the deaths of Tina Williams and the other four victims.
