I’ve been thinking a lot about the location where this tragedy took place. Russell Avenue in Merchantville seems like such a quiet, residential area. It's unsettling to think something so violent could happen in such a seemingly peaceful place. I can only imagine the shock and fear experienced by the neighbors who may have witnessed or heard the commotion that night. My heart goes out to Joshua Simmons' family—they lost someone so young and full of potential. The fact that it happened close to home for many makes it even more frightening. I hope the community can find healing and strength as they process this event together. It’s important we all stay aware and engaged in our neighborhoods to help prevent such things from happening in the future.
