I’ve been following the tragic case of Niles Maurice Holmes, and I can’t help but think about the impact this has had on his family and community. It’s devastating to think of a person's life cut short so violently, and especially chilling that a 13-year-old is involved. While there’s been a lot of focus on the suspect's age and the legal proceedings, I wonder how Niles' loved ones are coping. He must have had friends and family who are grappling with an unimaginable mix of emotions right now. It’s a stark reminder of how gun violence affects not just the victims, but everyone connected to them. My heart goes out to everyone who knew him; I hope they find the strength and support they need during this painful time.
