I've been thinking a lot about the tragic case of Roy Banks and I can't shake the feeling of injustice. It's incredibly sad to consider how fear and chaos overshadowed basic humanity during the 1967 Detroit Uprising. The fact that Roy, a deaf man just trying to get to work, was perceived as a threat is deeply unsettling. It seems like there was such a lack of understanding and empathy in the heat of the moment, and that cost him his life. I wonder how different things might have been if there had been greater awareness and training for dealing with civilians in such situations. My heart goes out to Roy's family and friends who've had to carry this loss for so many years, without seeing justice for such a wrongful death. It's these individual stories that remind us of the importance of justice and accountability.
