I’ve been thinking a lot about NiYauna’s family, especially her sister Teauena. It’s unimaginable what she has gone through, witnessing such a tragic event at such a young age. It must be incredibly difficult for her to cope with the loss of her sister while dealing with her own trauma from the shooting. I can’t even begin to imagine the strength it takes to move forward after something like this. Hopefully, they have a strong support system to help them through these tough times. It's just so devastating how one reckless, heartless action can ripple through so many lives. Wishing her family and the community some semblance of peace and justice in the wake of all this.

I wanted to discuss the tragic case of little NiYauna Jones, particularly the impact on her family. It’s truly devastating to think about how their lives changed in an instant. Not only did NiYauna became a victim of such senseless violence, but just days after her heartbreaking funeral, the family had to endure yet another loss with the death of her uncle, Deion J.L. "Bone Skanless" Smith. It’s hard to imagine the pain they’re experiencing with such back-to-back tragedies.
I often think about the children left behind, like NiYauna’s sister, Teauena. Surviving such a traumatic event at a young age must be incredibly hard, and my heart goes out to her and the rest of the family. The emotional scars from such an experience can run deep, and they deserve all the support and love they can get from the community.
How can we, as a community, provide better support for families who have been through such horrifying experiences? It feels like something we need to address head-on to help others from going through similar heartache. Let’s discuss some meaningful ways to aid these families in their healing process.
