Has anyone else been thinking about the role of gun safety education after Elijah Walker's tragic death? It's just so awful to think about how different things might've been if Curry Bryson had taken more steps to ensure his firearm was truly secure. I can't stop thinking about how Elijah's family must be feeling right now. It breaks my heart that this little boy's life was cut short so senselessly. I really believe that strong community awareness and education about gun safety could prevent these kinds of incidents from happening in the future. It’s obvious that leaving firearms accessible to children can have devastating consequences. I’m curious if Detroit has started any new initiatives for gun safety since this happened? Any additional safety measures would be a good start to prevent future tragedies.
