I can’t stop thinking about how brave Rachel was for reaching out and filing the protection order, even though it didn’t ultimately keep her safe. There’s a real need for better systems to protect individuals like her who find the courage to stand up and say “enough.” Her story showcases a tragic gap in how domestic violence cases are handled. It’s heartbreaking to see someone so passionate and filled with life, involved in her community and sharing talents like gymnastics and music, to be taken in such a way. My heart goes out to her family, especially her mom Gail, for finding the strength to speak out amidst their grief. Rachel's legacy will surely inspire change and raise awareness about the realities of domestic violence.
