Has anyone else been struck by just how close to home this tragic event hit? I've been thinking about the Humboldt Park neighborhood and realized it was where I used to hang out a lot when I lived in Chicago. It’s truly chilling to realize that this kind of violence can happen in places that are part of our everyday lives. My heart goes out to Jose’s family and friends who have to carry on without him. The fact that people in the city are surrounded by this level of violence just amplifies the reality of what's happening. It really makes you think about what you can do to help the community heal and prevent this from happening again. Thoughts are with everyone affected by this senseless tragedy.
