It's puzzling to me that *Ua Noa* was spotted by the container ship just days after the Coast Guard notice was issued. I can't help but wonder about the communication attempts. Even though the radio contact was unsuccessful, could Arvin have sabotaged or disabled his communication equipment intentionally? It's bizarre that he was reportedly in good condition and didn't signal the container ship for help. Maybe he had a specific reason for not wanting to be contacted or assisted at that moment. It almost feels like he was staging something or had a contingency plan we’re unaware of. It's been years, and I still can't shake that nagging feeling that something unusual was going on with how he chose not to interact with the Matson crew. Would love to hear thoughts on this aspect if anyone else has insights into other cases where sailors behaved similarly.
