I've been following the case of Dedontae Dominique Jackson and it's been really weighing on my heart. The news of Branden McLaurin's arrest was a significant development, but I can't help but think about the bigger picture here. It's so disturbing to see how often violence targets transgender individuals, especially Black transgender women like Dominique. In so many cases, it feels like their voices get lost, and justice takes far too long to be served. I really hope this case brings more awareness to the need for inclusive hate crime laws. We can't just stand by while these systemic issues continue—we need action and accountability to potentially prevent more tragedies like this in the future. Sending all my thoughts to Dominique’s loved ones. I can’t imagine the pain they are enduring. May they find some solace as the investigation continues and justice is sought.
