I was thinking about the situation at the Citgo store and how it all spiraled out of control. It’s baffling how a confrontation there escalated into a tragic chase that led to the loss of young Jeremiah’s life. The fact that the incident ended near the entrance of Port Gibson High significantly hits home, especially knowing it’s where Jeremiah was a student. It’s hard to comprehend the fear and chaos that must have ensued during those moments. My heart goes out to all the students and faculty who have to walk past that spot every day, reminded of their friend and classmate. It serves as a sobering reminder of how violence can impact our community spaces, places that should feel safe and familiar. I hope this ongoing investigation brings clarity and justice, and that Jeremiah's family finds some solace in the community's support.
