I've been reading about the tragic case of Anna Weyenberg VanCamp and her son William, and one thing that caught my attention is the role of the 12-gauge shotgun found in William's bedroom. It's mentioned that it wasn't the murder weapon, but I can't help but wonder why it was there in the first place. Was William known to be a hunter? Could there be some relevance to why that particular shotgun was in his room?
Given the era and the rural setting, I'm curious if there were common practices around storing weapons like this one back then, or if it might have been left there for some other reason. It seems like a detail that would have at least been significant in ruling out possibilities. And considering how the crime scene was disturbed, tracking this shotgun's use or recent activity might have been crucial. It's frustrating to think about all the missed opportunities to gain insights due to the chaos.
I just feel deeply for the family still seeking answers and hope that one day justice might be served or at least some peace offered. If anyone has more insight into hunting practices back then or thoughts on why this shotgun's presence might matter, I'd love to hear them.
