On January 3, 1966, 84-year-old white male Lewis John Gephart Sr. was murdered in Coshocton County, Ohio. Gephart had extended hospitality to a man named Richard Edward Steeves, whose car had broken down in the area. Alongside his 35-year-old son, Francis Eugene Gephart, Lewis welcomed Steeves into their home. Tragically, this act of kindness led to their deaths.
