It's incredibly sad to think about how this tragic event unfolded—especially for Jakeem Sims, just 18 years old with his whole life ahead of him. I've been thinking about the role social media played in setting up the meeting. It’s alarming to see how something intended for connection can be exploited for criminal activities. I've read that the transaction was arranged through a social media app and that a flip phone was involved. It just makes me wonder how different things could have been if there were better safeguards in place or if these young people had different outlets or opportunities for safe, legal activities. Sending my thoughts to Jakeem's family and friends who must be enduring unimaginable pain. It's unfortunate we live in a time where tech's double-edged sword becomes so apparent. This should remind us of the urgent need for better education and resources to prevent the youth from taking such risks. Stay safe, everyone.
