Hi everyone, I’ve been following Sara Schmidt’s case from the beginning, and I wanted to talk about the gun sale aspect that many people might not be aware of. The lawsuit filed by Sara’s estate against Armslist and its co-founder is hugely significant, and here's why: It brings to light how easily individuals with a history of domestic violence can access firearms online. The fact that Robert was somehow able to obtain a gun despite legal prohibitions makes you wonder how many other dangerous loopholes exist out there. Many times, discussions about domestic violence don't fully consider the role of online platforms in facilitating these tragedies. It’s appalling to think there’s an entire system that allows someone like Robert, who clearly posed a threat, to get around gun laws designed to protect people like Sara. This isn't just a local issue but one that affects communities nationwide. It’s encouraging to see people pushing for change and holding these companies accountable. Hopefully, the advocacy efforts spurred by this case bring attention and regulation to online gun sales. For those who knew Sara and have been vocal in raising awareness about these issues, your strength during this time is inspiring. Let’s continue to demand safer policies that prevent such senseless violence from occurring again. Stay safe out there, and don’t hesitate to contact local support services if you or someone you know might be in a similar situation.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the role of online gun marketplaces in tragedies like Sara Schmidt’s case. It’s just devastating to think that a site like Armslist made it possible for Robert, someone who was legally prohibited from owning a gun, to get his hands on one. I can’t imagine the pain Sara’s family is going through, knowing that the weapon used was potentially acquired through a loophole in gun control laws. It really makes me angry how easy it is for people with a history of violence to circumvent these safety nets. I hope that the lawsuit against Armslist brings more awareness to these issues and leads to some meaningful change. We desperately need stricter regulations and oversight when it comes to online gun sales to prevent another family from suffering like this. My thoughts are with Sara’s kids and the rest of her family. They didn’t deserve any of this.
